How to Protect New Sneakers on Day One

The smartest thing you can do for a new pair takes five minutes and happens before you ever wear them.

Why day one matters

Fresh materials are clean and dry — the perfect surface to seal. Apply protection now and the first rain shower, coffee splash or scuff simply wipes away instead of soaking in and setting.

The 5-minute routine

  1. Wipe down the uppers to remove any factory dust.
  2. Apply a light, even coat of protection spray from about 6 inches away — thin and even beats heavy.
  3. Let it cure for a few hours (or overnight) before wearing.
  4. Test on a hidden spot first if the material is delicate suede.

Then keep it up

Protection wears with use — re-coat every 4–6 weeks or after a deep clean. Pair it with a quick brush-down and you'll keep that box-fresh look for seasons. See the full care essentials.
